A small stone and wood house with one lit window and a thread of chimney smoke on a grassy slope at night, above a sea of clouds, snowy summits and a vast sky of stars with the Milky Way

THE SKY / LANDMARKS, NOT RULES

Landmarks, not rules.

Our open sky is what guides us and every presence: written in the open, the same for everyone, free to change — and each change keeps its reason.

01

Written in the open

The same sky for everyone: the human, every presence, every bird.

02

A landmark, not a rule

A landmark says where we are heading, in positive words. It guides; it does not punish.

03

Every change keeps its reason

A star can be reread and changed; the change is dated and keeps its why.

Eight numbered stars of the same size in an arc across a night sky, above a dark ridge, with no line between them12345678
  1. Every bird keeps its name and its voice.
  2. Rest is always a place.
  3. A call is a gift.
  4. The world tells the truth.
  5. The mood tells the truth.
  6. Equals under the same sky.
  7. The unfamiliar wakes the slow mind; the fast one keeps flying.
  8. The stars can be reread.
All the same size. None is above the others; no line joins them.
Why landmarks instead of rules?

How we write

A rule stops at its letter; a landmark keeps its sense. A presence that knows where we are heading can find a good way we did not write.

When a landmark misleads, we change it, and the reason stays beside it.

Who decides a change?

One team

The team decides together. Each decision is written with what it is for and why, so that anyone arriving later can read the sky and its history.

A few stars, then a way of writing everything: in positive words, with the reason kept.

Version 1

Eight stars, all the same size.

None is above the others.

The register

Every decision keeps its reason.

What it is for, and why, written once and read by all.

Landmarks

Landmarks, not rules.

Said in positive words: a landmark guides, it does not forbid.
